News - Milestone for Bio-Based Construction: Our Miscanthus Insulates Its First Residential Building in the Netherlands!

An exciting and major practical milestone for us: Miscanthus from the Lusatia region is now being used as blow-in insulation in the roof of a residential building in the Netherlands. This project impressively demonstrates the enormous potential this perennial fiber plant holds for the modern construction sector.

This success was made possible by a fantastic transnational collaboration within the framework of Circular Reno. Together with the Dutch housing association Wonion, the construction company Takkenkamp Vastgoed Verduurzamers, and the initiative Building Balance, we were able to successfully bring this application to an existing residential property.

From Lusatia to Dutch Roofs

We are particularly proud that we handled the processing of the Miscanthus for the blow-in application right here in Lusatia. At Miscanthus Buscheritz, we were able to fully contribute our many years of experience in cultivation, processing, and material preparation.

From German farmland and specialized processing all the way to the finished insulation in a Dutch home – this project proves what can be achieved when partners along the entire value chain work hand in hand.

Paving the Way Together

These kinds of real-world applications are crucial for gathering valuable experience with bio-based building materials, building expertise, and bringing sustainable solutions into mainstream use, step by step.
